Easy Typographic Mirror Makeover

Guys, I am LOVING this spring weather that has popped up this week!!!
Have you guys gotten any good springish weather yet??

It's hard because it makes me want to stay outside all.the.time. and forget about boring schoolwork.
Which is bad...

I'd rather be painting furniture on pretty spring days than studying data analyis. Eck.

If you visited over here on Monday, you can tell that I'm gearing up for spring with my spring mantle reveal that I posted.
I told ya that I'd be back with a couple DIY projects I did for it and here I am!!

Soo...Did you happen to glimpse the cute little yellow mirror that was up there?

I just adore this mirror.
I picked it up for a buck at a garage sale last year because it has an awesome shape to it.
It collected dust in the garage until it found it's home up on my mantle.

But it started out pretty drab...

I cleaned it off and then decided it needed to be an amazing color!
I wanted to add pops of yellow into my decor this spring so that's what I was thinking for him.

I covered the mirror up with plain white paper.
It slid into the sides easily so no tape needed.

I spraypainted it Rustoleum's Sun Yellow which was the perfect shade I was looking for.

After that dried, I sanded the edges down a bit to distress it.

Then came the fun part.

I decided that it shouldn't be just any old mirror.
It should definitely say something.
So I rummaged around in my letters bin until I found some old rub-ons I had.

I had forgotten how much I love Gin-X rubons!!
They were perfect for this project and come with tons of each letter so I wouldn't run out.

I laid the words out and then one by one, rubbed them onto the mirror.
A little tedious but not hard at all.
The hardest part is just keeping the letters lined up and making sure my crazy cat didn't mess the words up as they were laid out!!

I love love love how the quote turned out...

And, why yes, it is Albus Dumbledore :)
What can I say? It's a fabulous quote!

And, yes, I did plan on having the mirror standing up so I planned on having the words running sideways down the mirror.
I liked the look of it :)
(I was inspired by this gorgeous one!)

But I can always change it up if I get bored and hang it right side up again.
But this is how I planned for it to look up there:

I love how the words have a shadow-type effect on the mirror.
And you could definitely easily do this with vinyl too.

I love easy makeovers and this one definitely had a lot of impact!
Isn't it amazing what a dollar garage sale find can become?
I'm still in awe over the things people practically give away :)

What do you think?

Do you have any mirrors that need an awesome makeover?

If you like this, I'd love for you to
