MIA because of OT

I know I've been completely out of things this past week...

and this week isn't looking too much better.

All I can say is *sigh*

Is that even really saying anything?

I've been snowed under with a three year old cutting molars and tons of homework.

At the end of the day, I'm lucky to stay awake long enough to get through an episode of 24.

And Jack Bauer can usually keep me awake :)

So anyways...I thought I'd give you a little sneak peek of some sort of fun thing I've been up too...

actually...it's from a couple weeks ago...

Ot school is officially trying to take over my life.

For you research nerds (are you really out there??), here's a small portion of what I've been staring at for the past few hours...

Agh.

That's all I have to say about that.

I'm off to slam my head against my books...err...study them I mean.

Bench Redo and MadeByGirl Love print...

Today has been long.

I think I've asked myself at least a dozen times "Do I really want to be an OT anymore?"

I know I"m being dramatic but today was just...overwhelming.

If I hadn't have gotten that two and a half hour break between classes, I might have run away.

Just sayin'.

On to better things...

I found this little...beauty? at Goodwill several weeks ago.

It was 3$ and really, the only thing I was sold on was how cushy it was.

And incredibly clean.

I just knew it would be a pain in the booty to rip all that gross fabric off...

but home it came...

I mean, seriously, who upholsters the legs?

The fabric was wrapped and stapled to the bottom of each leg so that it was rickity... yuck.

I ripped those little suckers out (there were about ten in each of those tiny feet) and yanked fabric off...

...this sat in my living room for several days... there were THAT many staples.

Here it is all partly dismantled...see that nice cushy cushion?

I wasn't quite in the budget for new fabric so I took some brown polka dot scrap I had and reupholstered the top.

I also painted the legs heirloom white...

Now it deserves to be called a 'beauty', huh?

Even with it's skinny little legs.

The fabric was a pain in the butt to make look nice and crisp on those corners, so don't start investigating too closely. :)

I sat it in the corner next to my dresser and master bath door.

I like to sit on it to get my boots on :)

Right now it's currently holding a huge box of winter clothes...*sigh*

I need a bigger closet.

MadeByGirl was THE very first blog I ever followed and fell in love with.

I've been eyeing her 'love' prints forever and it fell in my lap!

I pretty much jumped up and down when I found out I won!

I promised Michaela pictures and I'm (finally) delivering!

Here it is above the pretty little bench...

(Just excuse the tv... not much I can do about that monster)

And, yes, I keep a basket of lotions and body wash there...

I love my zebra pillow though :)

And I honestly adore my MadeByGirl print.

I smile every time I see it (which is pretty much first thing in the morning).

I found that frame in the Goodwill clearance store for 2$. Glass intact and everything!

It just needed a good coat of Heirloom white and it was good as new.

One more glance...

Do you notice a new addition since the master bath reveal  ?

I finally sucked it up and bought a shower curtain.

I told you all about the weird phobia I have about closed shower curtians...and it still gives me the creeps sometimes...

...but I coudlnt' resist a chocolate and cream quatrefoil shower curtian.

I mean... really.

So...there you have it.

I was so excited the other day when this showed up at our door...

Cause you see, a week or so ago...this little thing decided to give up on life...

Which was fine with me... because the brassy, lantern look was not what I was in love with for our foyer!

What an amazing excuse to get the amazingly cute mini chandelier I've had my eye on for a while...

I scoured the internet for hours trying to find the best deal (this beauty was out of stock in a LOT of places)

and I ended up deciding to get it here because it did end up being the best price, even with shipping.

And with my fabulous hubby's and little mans' help...

It's now hanging in all of it's sparkling glory :)

Did you know that it's incredibly hard to get a good picture of a chandelier at night?

But I was super excited :)

Never mind the chair that little man sat on to 'help' daddy hang it.

The foyer now has a little 'glam' and I'm in love!

She (yes, it's a she) is much better suited here than mr. brass and dust was.

I tried to find a 'before' picture of the foyer (I was too excited to stop and take pictures before we got things down)... but here's the best I dug up:

You can barely see the old light fixture hanging.

Now to just wait until the dining room light fixture gives up... :)



Delicious Chair Revamp!

I have no idea why I've waited so long to post this project.

It's one that I have fallen in love with.

I guess that keeping up with Christmas posting put this on the back burner.

I have to tell you, looking at these pictures make me go CRAZY to be able to spraypaint.

But there is snow on the ground and I FREEZE.

So that's a no go.

Darn cold weather.

I have a lot of spray painting to do in the spring to make up for this lonnggg break.

Is it weird that I'm having spray paint- project withdrawals?

Like...is that even normal?

Anywho.

I got this ah-mazing chair on the side of the road.

Not even kidding.

I wish there had been a million more with it.

So I snatched that baby up.

Isn't she a beaut?

Not really? Oh but I could see her all dressed up :)

You see, my big DIY dream at the moment is to have a table like this one.

I have a gorgeous dining room table already but I'm darn-set on painting it.

As soon as summer (and time) rolls around.

So I've been on the hunt for a couple more chairs to go with my cane-back ones I have.

They will get painted this summer too :)

But this chair was PERFECT.

See all the pretty details?

And just a little bit of caning on the back...

But a gross seat... so I took that sucker out.

I cleaned her up and then gave her a gleaming coat of Heirloom white.

Then I glazed her with my black antiquing glaze.

I found this yummy fabric at JoAnns and gave the seat a good redo.

And I just about died when I put them together.

I was in. love.

I think she's just gorgeous.

And the fabric was exactly what I was looking for.

The glaze made her detailed lines just pop right out...

Seriously.

I see this chair from where I sit on the couch in the living room and it just makes me smile.

Vintage-y Burlap Valentines Wreath

I didn't realize that I didn't have a name for this wreath until I went to write this post.

Hmm.

Somehow 'burlap and shapes' wreath didn't sound good... so vintage-y burlap it is.

You're okay with that, right?

I've been dying for something new to be on my doors once Christmas came down and wasn't ready for my spring wreaths (I mean, it IS snowing right now)

I always seem to have a problem with Valentines because it can jump over the 'cheesy' line realll quick.

And I'm not a fan of cheesy.

All the 'love' and 'hugs' and 'be mine'.... I do a little of that.

But I don't want to be smothered in it. :)

Here's what I came up with in a matter of a few minutes

(hubby wouldn't get off the computer to go watch our movie so I had a few minutes while he was wrapping it up to throw this together... I love that!)

I started with a green dollar store wreath form and just wrapped it loosely in my fabulous burlap garland I got at Micheals. I used it all over the place for Christmas and this was one of my scraps:

I hotglued the ends to the form just so it wouldn't fall apart too easily.

I dug around my craft table and found a whole pile of chipboard shapes from my scrapbooking days :)

I grabbed a few I thought would work.

And I also dug out my valentines paper... I didn't end up using the 'love' print...

I ended up using the red 'i love you' paper (it looked vintage-y) and the harlequin tissue paper from Hobby Lobby.

I have used that tissue paper on a million things! I've got a great tutorial coming up that I used it for.

Lurvve it.

Anyways...

I played with the chipboard shapes until I found a way I liked them.

Little man did his own crafting :)

And then I laid the shapes on the scrapbook paper and used my exacto knife to cut around them so I could cover them.

Then I used black ink to distress the edges.

(I'm addicted to fleur-de-lis)

Once they were covered, I hot glued them to the wreath and...

...here she is!

Not bad for a ten minute crafty moment, huh?

And it was just the splash of valentines that my front door needed :)

I found a wooden conversation heart that I distressed and stuck on there too.

Just a smidge of that cheesiness :)

Can't wait to show you the other projects that harlequin tissue paper has shown up on...

and I might just get to post again tomorrow if it keeps snowing :)

*fingers crossed*

And after this weekends' snow flurries, I'm ready for spring to pop up, kay?

I don't know if I've ever had a problem with self portrait- taking.

I've always been that crazy person that carries her camera everywhere.

I have millions upon millions of pictures sitting on my harddrive (and on my external one).

I adore taking pictures.

I mastered the art of holding the camera up above you and looking down on you kind of picture.

That's the only way I have some of me and my besties :)
